Licensed Social Worker
Approach
I utilize various approaches in order to meet my clients’ needs. These include cognitive behavioral therapy, trauma informed, person-centered, strengths-based, and a culturally competent approach. I strongly emphasize a culturally competent approach in order to understand my clients background, properly assess their needs, and implement an effective treatment plan. I have experience working with a diverse group of individuals such as military personnel, spouses of military personnel, veterans, victims of intimate partner violence and sexual assault, elderly, adolescents, and families navigating through grief and bereavement. Additionally, previously working in a hospital allowed me to work with those who have dual diagnosis, personality, mood, trauma-related, and substance abuse disorders.
I was born and raised on O’ahu in the Ahupua’a of Moanalua. I received my Bachelor’s in Psychology from Chaminade University of Honolulu and my Master of Social Work degree from Arizona State University. I am a nearly life long hula dancer and student of Hawaiian culture who also partakes in Chinese lion dance. I enjoy being dog mom to my rescue Frenchie, Suki, spending time with family and friends, trying new food places, and cooking and baking when I have the time and people to feed.
