Licensed Clinical Social Worker
I use a client-focused and client-engaged style, as each person, and their goals, are unique; they have the resources within them to initiate and generate the best healing practices for themselves, with my support.
I have experience working with people of many ages, ethnicities, sexualities, occupations, faiths, loss experiences and loss reactions, and am eager to learn more about my clients’ distinctive qualities.
My goal is to approach my relationship with each client with warmth, compassion, connectivity, and empathy.
I grew up in Texas, and moved to Hawai’i over ten years ago. I’ve attended university in Arizona, Texas, México, España, and online.
I enjoy swimming, reading, crafting, bicycling, theater, socializing, singing, dancing, and playing the bagpipes. I plan to learn to play both the Celtic lap harp and the ukulele.
I worked in Corporate America for decades before the effects of Hurricane Katrina on the Gulf Coast and the effects of a tragic loss to a close friend’s family led me to know that my calling lay in helping others, especially in the area of grief counseling.
Throughout the recent constrictions of the COVID-19 pandemic, I’ve come to realize that the term “grief” applies not just to the loss by death of a loved one, but also to the loss of community, job, certainty, routine, friendships, family and social relationships, pets, health, traditions, anchors, an elderly parent’s mental status, trust in our own judgement, and our sense of self.
